These finely designed rather short cigars are available in four formats, all with pointed ends. This corresponds to the shape of the figurados, which were very popular in the 19th century, which were only gradually displaced after 1900 by the straight-cut parejos that dominate the scene today. The Cuabas have their own character, are mostly made of dark tobacco and require – due to the Figurado format – experience with cigars to ensure a regular brand.
Since autumn 1996, the “Cuaba” from the famous Romeo y Julieta factory has enriched the Havana palette. The name comes from the language of the Taino Indians and refers to a bush whose easily combustible wood was used in religious ceremonies to light the cigars.
